I’m a 33-year-old graduate with a 1st Class BSc (Hons) in Horticulture from Pershore College/University of Worcester. I’m a professional horticulturist, with a keen dedication to all things plants, new introductions and the production and sales of plants to both wholesale and retail markets.
I am currently Head of Horticulture (Curriculum & Commercial) at Pershore College/WCG, where I still have oversight of the College’s wholesale nursery, garden centre and glasshouses, but now also look at wider horticultural development, full-cost-recovery courses and the promotion of horticulture within the wider industry. Other responsibilities involve managing the Plant Heritage National Collections at Pershore, being Vice-Chairman, Young Horticulturist of the Year Regional Organiser and Education Committee member for The Chartered Institute of Horticulture West Midlands and South Wales branch, and finally Chairman of the Worcestershire Group of Plant Heritage.
I am also a horticultural speaker to gardening clubs and societies in the local area. See my ‘Talks’ page for information.
I was fortunate enough to be awarded at a ceremony in March 2024, the Roy Lancaster Award from the Royal Horticultural Society. It is awarded to a person (who is under-35 at the time of nomination), who has shown a high level of service to the science, practice or promotion of horticulture. Roy is an inspiration, and it was such an honour to meet him again (you can usually find him at a Hardy Plant Society National AGM) and have him present me with this award. I was nominated by Dr David Hall, ex-Principal of Pershore College, and seconded by Bill Simpson, another ex-Pricipal of the College. Both of these fine gentleman, I met through my work with Plant Heritage and The Chartered Institue of Horticulture.
